Do you love granola? Consider making your own and customizing your flavors and ingredients. I found that the per pound was a little high and even some of the "healthy" varieties seemed a bit too sweet. I love having full control of what goes in my food. My first attempt at making homemade granola ended up a little toasty and mildly sweet. Since I kept the ammount of sticky sweetness to a minimum the texture came out crumbly not crunchy and made for a great topping on greek yogurt. I found a few inspirational recipies online and ended up making this:
Homemade Granola:
2 1/2 cups of Rolled Oats
1/2 cup of Millit
1/4 cup of Pumpkin Seeds
1/4 cup Slivered Almonds
1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon
1 cup Shaved Coconut
1/4 cup Coconut Oil
2 tbsp Honey
2 tbsp agave nectar
1 teaspoon Maple Syrup
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the wet ingredients and mix well. Place your granola mixture on the baking sheet. Bake for about 30-45 minuites. Midway between baking time stir the oats. Try playing around with this recipe feel free to add more sweetness or additional seeds or superfoods such as hemp and chia!
